i bought this car back in january for $1,000 from a guy local on craigslist. Car had 147*** miles on it and was bought new by them from heritage autogroupe in rome ga, (whom i work for). i had been well maitained untill they parked it about 2 years ago. due to the following reasons. The car ran but had a p0300 code in computer and the engine had water in the oil. First thought was Blown intake gasket. I got the car home and pulled the intake and what do u know the intake gasket was blown (like most are). I figured while i had the intake off i would go ahead and pull the cylinder heads and take to the machine shop that does all my work.

I had them port the heads, and take .007" off the surface of each to true them up. they then performed a valve job on the heads and installed new valve seals.
I purchaced a head gasket set from GM for about 120 bucks,
While i hade the supercharger off i drained the oil and removed the nose cone and took it to work and pressed the pulley off and installed a Intense racing modular pulley hub and a 3.4" pulley.
I also ported out the front exhaust manifold to match the gasket and ported the inlet on the rear header and welded the tubes on the outside to ensure they dont leak.
    I installed autolite 104's and a 180* thermostat.
I cut the mufflers off and welded in a set of Thrush Chambered mufflers and 4" round tips.

    Future mods will be.
    zzp S2 intercooler
    42.5# injectors
    3.0 pulley
    XP cam
3" zzp catless downpipe or a set of speedDaddy w/3" exhaust to a 2.5" Y pipe and supper 44 mufflers
    Custom pcm tune
    CIA setup from ZZP
    ported LIM and Ported supercharger
    larger TB

i would upload pics but having a little trouble right now. will get pics up later

Good buy man. Thats the same price i paid for mine and it has 148k miles on it. Got it on craigslist to and it had one owner , so it was in good shape except for the intake gasket.Good luck with yours and enjoy it.

i love my new car. i scanned it and as of right now i am getting a peak of 6.4* KR at about 5500 rpm. so for now i dont go WOT so that i dont chip a poston. i cant wait till i get some more cash to buy more mods. the next item on my list is a external tranny cooler and zzp shift kit and filter kit. i have already done a flush at work when i got the car. and after that its gonna be a cold air intake. then the exhaust, then a cam and other mods at the same time.

Yeah, the intake should help drop some knock, the engine wont have to work nearly as hard to get the air it wants, plus you'll love the sound of the supercharger whine at 5500rpm.

    Nice buy, and happy modding

Actually, you have it backwards. If it is bringing in more air than before and still can't get rid of it as fast then it'll actually hurt him. Get more flow mods. I bet that thing still has the stock U-Bend and if it does, that should kill most of his KR IMO.

    Ah thanks Blue,

I know he said he ported his manifolds, but with that U-bend, it is killing his flow.

Once he throws that 3" DP in tho, he should flow just fine, I just got a little ahead of myself.

get headers, especially if you want to go I/C and run a small pulley.

Skip the short stack and get a full size core as well.

I doubt he wants to part with his ported manifolds, but Headers will give you the most flow, Period. I noticed a decent 'seat of the pants' difference putting my Speeddaddy headers on.
And if you do plan on running a small pulley, it's much better to run the full size IC.

    Lol, really??

I know people talk about losing some torque with headers on, but how do they tell?? I mean if I give my car more than 1/2 throttle in first gear, I spin like a *****...And the tires are fairly new, only like 4000miles on them. But top end really did change entirely.

Before headers, the car would shift at about 82mph, from 2nd to 3rd..After headers, it was up to 93mph, same rpm.

That just means your tranny is slipping. have fun with that.

I lost low end torque meaning I can't sustain burnouts as long but it doesnt matter since the car doesnt die after 4 grand anymore.

Yeah, money is being saved for a tranny, I dont really want to put any more power out before I upgrade the trans.

I wonder just how much of a difference headers make on the L36's top end...
