Hello Everyone. I'm new to this forum but my wife has a 2004 Grand Prix that has a minor issue. The problem is a damp/waterstained headliner. I also have a nice rear spoiler (Black) from this car that I will post in the forsale section. It only gets a little damp after we get some heavy rain. I've done some "searching" in the forum and didn't see much info on how to get things apart, like removing the lighted sunvisors or removing the headliner entirely. I have the power sliding sunroof and not real sure how to get at the 2 rear Draintubes for the sunroof to check and clean these as well.
I suspect the drain tubes for the sunroof are clogged or blocked somehow. There is a TSB #04-08-57-007B which has a fix for this which may be what I'm seeing here. I dropped the headliner just enuff to see the drain hoses are (thankfully) still attached at the sunroof. Not sure how to completely remove the headliner since this car also has Airbag Sidecurtains and I was a little scared to pull it all apart. My guess is these Airbags are mounted to the roof and the headliner just covers them, but didn't see a need to take out the whole liner once I verified the hoses (at least at the front corners) were attached. I ran some Weed Trimmer string down both front drain tubes and they seem clear. Then "turkey Basted" some water down each side...my wife just Luvs when I use her kitchen utenzils :>) One side pored straight to the ground and the other side just trickled out so I suspect this is the culprit. I'm getting ready to remove the pass. Kickpanel to fix the drainhose as per the TSB. Few questions though......
1) How do you disconnect the sunvisors with power? I pulled them down and expected to see a plug but it was a solid wire going toward the sunroof motor. I don't want to have to cut these to get them out. Maybe I didn't drop the headliner enuff to see the connectors but was afraid to bend the cardboard backer for the headliner.
2) If I do what to take out the headliner with Airbag Side Curtains in the roof, what is the procedure to do this and how do you get it out of the car??
3) How do you remove the glass assembly?? When this is slid back, it covers the back corners making it difficult to get access to the rear drain tubes.
Thank you for any input you could offer and Happy New Year!!
Bob
