I'm here for a friend, and myself, I suppose.

My preferred car is actually Subaru, I own a 2002 WRX Wagon of current with some plans for some... Unorthadox modifications in the future. I am seriously wanting to get into autocross, and once I have a transmission in the car that can handle the torque, I want to supercharge the motor with either a Gen 5 Cobalt SS M62 or a Gen 5 Grand Prix M90, if I can source either one of them. Subaru was cheap and put garbage transmissions into the WRX, take the WRX to the drag strip a few times and you can, and most probably will shatter second gear.

The reason I'm here, other than looking for a place to source an M90, is the aforementioned friend. I may prefer AWD for driving up and down mountains in the winter time in 3 feet of snow, but a friend of mine has a future project in mind, and I'm actually here to do research, learn, and possibly source one, maybe two cars for her.

My friend loves the Grand Prix GTP, likes the torque and FWD. She's also a bit of a computer nut, and would like to purchase a base or GT Grand Prix in order to turn it into an EV (Electric Vehicle). Since I'm going to be the one turning the wrench, firing up the welder, and possibly even sourcing a custom 2 speed manual transmission for the car, I figured it would be a good idea to get on the ball early (going to be a few years until we both get out of college to do this).

My friend will take care of the batteries, controller, motor(s), and most if not all of the electrical.

So, I've said "Hi", which I typically don't do on forums. I'm on NASIOC (Subaru forums), the Legacy forums, 240SX forums, trying to register on a few Cobalt SS forums, and here now.

And last thing, there's a crazy (good kind of crazy) guy over on NASIOC who built (home brew, did it smart, unlike a recent build on rs25.com) a 1994 Subaru Legacy Twin Charged, and it dynoed 500+ awhp. Well, it would have gone a lot further, because the supercharger belt broke during the dyno pull. He blew up so very many engines, transmissions, axles, and a rear diff building that, though. I can link to the thread, I think it has something along the lines of 3,000 posts in it now. He's on YouTube, just search "RedDevil" or Twin Charged Subaru (Or Twin Charged Legacy). Okay, tired now, going to bed.

    Pontiacs suck.

but not as bad as jap crap.

and yes I can back it up.

Welcome, your best bet to source an M90 would be a late model junk yards , I think CARS INC is a north american company that totals out insurance pay outs.

I got an LS1 w/ M6 for an old 79 camarO I had a few years back from a guy in missouri, I gotta find his info but its strictly late model GMs, from zo6's down to 3.junk f bodies and many fwd like the gt.gxp. ect.

    Ahh, thanks.

It took 3 hours to remove the manifold, up pipe, down pipe, and unbolt the turbo from the block on my WRX. That was with access to a lift. How retarded can you make an exhaust system? It doesn't get any worse than that. Oh, and nothing was seized or stubborn coming off, except the heat shields that they installed OVER all of the bolts and nuts holding the entire exhaust together, and the front O2 that holds one key heatshield in place so you have to pull the O2 to pull the heatshield to get to the bolts to pull the manifold off the UP. >_< Retarded.

Just ordered a new up pipe for my car, as well as a turbo blanket and header wrap. Will post pics of the install when materials get here...

    Welcome!

I would go with the Gen V M90. No porting needed and most efficient.

Lol, I almost started my hood on fire when I put the turbo on, it was damn hot, just put a turbo blanket on and wrapped the downpipe. Started the car up and let it run for a while and it helped a ton with the heat.

Here's a link to the thread I just made on the Subaru forums (huge, 56K BEWARE, there's like 29 photos): Exhaust work [56k, brew some coffee] - NASIOC

I had a manifold with a small leak in it, so my turbo didn't make boost until after 3k. Now, I'm starting to see boost at 1,750 RPM.

I was going to wrap the down pipe, but it would be physically impossible to remove the heatshields from it. They're welded directly to the downpipe itself. I am going to be installing a turbo blanket soon, however. I will be posting more about that later.
