I just picked up a 2000 grandprix supercharged gtp coupe and trying to learn about these cars. I am usually a import guy but got this car as a good deal for a second car.

I test drove it a few times and let it run. Haven't picked it up because I worked out a deal for 500 to get the rockers re done. They were rotted under the plastics. . Has 112k on it. It's silver. They said they welded some spots for n the exhaust but still loud...I guess that's the 3800. Has a fresh inspection sticker and brand new tires and radio. Paid 1400 and a extra 500 for the rocker fix.

Nice. Doubling that mileage is safe bet. Under $2 K for a running, rolling car with a 2 year sticker is a deal. GTP=bonus. I'm in Kent county, where are you from ?
Cool splitter. Is it high enough to survive the sh1t roads around here? Tinted windows and a license plate cover are each enough to get you pulled over, so good luck with that.
Roger that. I WAS a big fan of tint, but it kept getting harder to find places for a pass. Then my ole lady got nailed by a Statie for tint. It cost the same for removal as the install = $400 out of pocket, for nothing.
I never knew there was a big fan base for the 3800's . I always liked the look of the Grand Prix's with the ground effects. But thought they were slow boats. Used to the nimble imports. I track my frs. I test drove this gtp and when the supercharger kicked in I was like whoa.

I never even knew about forums in general (Technologically Impaired, one could say)until I found this one after googling some issues about our cars. (05 &06 GP, & 05 Monte LT). Great knowledge on here. I have a solid car background, but I've learned a lot & a lot of shortcuts & tricks to save time and $$$.
theres really no such thing as a good sounding exhaust for these cars. leave it stock and quiet. pop a open cone air filter on it and then you can hear that supercharger whine.
Ours are stock except rotted resonators have been replaced with Thrush glasspacks. These engines are notorious for highway drone after exhaust mods. Try searching a bit and see if you can find a sound you can live with. Ironworker, eh? I'm in sprinkler fabrication, 1/2 welding shop, 1/2 machine shop. Just south of Boston, 600 miles EVERY week. SUX.
The good thing about having a older car is property taxes. Over 16 years old no taxes .it still cost me a 100 a month for taxes to drive my car in my city. It's bull****. I only paid 25000 brand new in 2013 and been paying 1200 a year on excise taxes ever since.
Car tax relief is on the way, they say..... Believe it when I see it. Yup, older cars=no payments, cheaper insurance and taxes, and no heartbreak if it gets scratched, dented, or even totaled. Just start over.
whats this tax? we pay sales tax when you title it and then registration yearly, mines like 70 bucks. insurance is nightmare here, just liability im paying 1200 a year. and i have a clean lic and im not a kid.......if your 17 years old here learn the bus routes, i hear they nail them for 4 to 5 grand a year. for no reason other then they are a kid.
