Hello all. I just picked up a 2000 GTP on the cheap. It runs like crud, and I joined the forum to research some codes.

    Current codes:

P0102 The MAF sensor has already been replaced, but not by me
    P0122 TPS
P0452 Evap Pressure Sensor Low input
P0453 Evap Pressure Sensor High input

I'm not real sure how the Evap Pressure sensor can be both Low and High at the same time. Seems odd to me.

I'm waiting on a new fuel pump to come in the mail, and maybe I'll try a new gas cap as well. But I'm just shooting on the dark at the moment.

If I get too stumped, I'll post a thread in the appropriate area.

    Cheers!
    Steve

Check the wiring to the MAF, and the fuse (I want to say fuse #21). Also, if it was replaced with a non OEM MAF, it could be junk. Best replacement is a junkyard OE one on these cars.

    Where in MO are you?

P0452- Potential causes for this DTC include:

Failed fuel tank pressure sensor Harness to the sensor has an open or short circuit Faulty electrical connection to the FTP sensor Cracked or broken vapor line to the vacuum canister Cracked or broken positive vapor line to the tank Plugged line Leaky gasket at the fuel pump module Gas cap left loose resulting in a loss of vacuum Pinched vapor line

keep looking. check over the wires to the purge solenoid, and the canister tank in the rear quarter panel.

P0453- take the driver side back wheel off, then unscrew the plastic cover, behind it is the evap canister fill hoses and another solenoid on the top of the canister tank. theres a few line to and from this tank, see if any or broken or off.

some times the canister tank just takes a crap, if its got gas inside, ( you'll have to unbolt it and shake it) then it needs to be changed.

P0122- A P0122 code means that the the car's computer has detected that the TPS (throttle position sensor) is reporting too low a voltage. On some vehicles that lower limit is 0.17 - 0.20 volts (V).

    DTC P0122

    CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The throttle body assembly contains 2 throttle position (TP) sensors. The TP sensors are mounted to the throttle body assembly and are not serviceable. The TP sensors provide a signal voltage that changes relative to throttle blade angle. The engine control module (ECM) supplies each TP sensor with a 5-volt reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit.

The TP sensors have opposite functionality. TP sensor 1 signal voltage decreases from above 4 volts at idle to below 1 volt at wide open throttle (WOT). TP sensor 2 signal voltage increases from below 1 volt at idle to above 4 volts at WOT.

If the ECM detects TP sensor 1 signal voltage is too low, this DTC sets.

Where in Missouri? I'm on the Kansas side and don't mind lending a hand. Got a good scan tool too! Got a spare stock maf sensor if you need it. Aftermarket ones are all crap. Just ask Scotty

I'm about 15 miles west of Jefferson City, in a small town called Russellville. Population around 800ish. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Good to know about the MAF. Probably why its still throwing the code after it's been replaced. I've always been a Mustang guy, but I've never owned a supercharged car before and I've read good things about the GTP. Hopefully I can get it sorted and road worthy. It's real straight body wise, with just a couple imperfections. I'm looking forward to giving her a spin.

Been up that way before. Wish I could say I'd be up that way before the holidays though. Let me know if you need a maf sensor though, and if you're ever in KC, consider this an open invite. Not enough of us GP guys left out this way sadly. Good luck on your project, and feel free to ask questions. I've never had one unanswered here.

Yeah... I had this exact problem when I started working on my N/A grand prix. Pretty annoying really. I wasn't getting any codes but it felt sluggish, swapped back to stock and it was an entirely different beast!

Good stuff here. Thank you. The weather is bad here today, but as soon as it clears up, I'll check these.

And I work downtown St. Louis, MO at Barnes Hospital, if you get this way and need a scan tool, or tuner to remove codes.

KC was the largest area for WBody's besides Michigan.

Hence why we used to do all the Branson GP Meets.

We've all just mostly moved on to other platforms.

Yeah...I'm young and broke so this is the first time I could afford this platform and why I'm stuck here, but for a first timer, I'm enjoying it! Just wish there were more guys near me to grab a beer with and work on these cars. Moved recently and my wife is driving me insane! Haha

Well, I'm not sure if we're planning any trips to HPT or Osborn in 2018...but we can keep everyone in the loop.

Probably have my heads/cam setup then so it'll make more than 12hp.

awesome! Just keep me in the loop! My car is still fairly stock, I'm mainly waiting till I have access to a tuner, or have the money to buy one too mod much.

Welcome SteveSS.........from a small town northeast of Joplin.....Carthage. I've been there with the same problems and used used parts off of another Buick 3800.....great results and found a good place on ebat(y) that sells OEM for a fraction of auto bins around here!
