That's the free thing to do, then past that it could be the ignition switch or something related to that.
Yeah done that

Tried that, but from my understanding it can still not start in neutral with a bad NSS sometimes. (Depending on how the switch fails?)

I was helping a friend with a 97 and had an intermittant start issue like this. I checked the starter and battery wiring and all was good. Then tried moving the column and it started. Shortly after he sold it so never figured out what exactly it was.
Good idea.

So weird, it just started after not starting for 2 days. It was parked in my job's parking lot so I couldn't really do any diagnosing on it. Called a tow truck and it started right before the truck got there... grrr. Hard to diagnose the issue when the issue is gone. I tried jiggling wires around hoping to bring the issue back, no dice. Guess I'll just have to wait till next time it rolls around.

Key turned, nothing. Usually you'll get some indication the starter is trying to work (clicking or lights dimming) but it's just like nobody's home.
