Hi. I'm here for your great knowledge with grand prix !
Sorry for my poor English. I am a french Quebecers.

    Thanks

I need some information. With fan 1 circuit control. I have a p0480 code that I cant erease .
I can erease the light for one ride only...
I want to fix this problem for my distance remote starter still work.

    Can you help me.

    I have a 05 Grand prix GT .

All relay and fuse are ok.
Cooling fan are good and tested.
    Coolant temperature gage work.
And fan start when hot. No overheating.

I think it is with the A\C sytem . Becaus cooling fans not work when a/c is on.

Thank to refer me to old post or good section in this forum.

Yes there is. Coolant sensor. I search on web about p0480 code. And it be cause by. Coolant sensor fail. Relay. Fan default. A\c Pressure switch.
But my temp gage work in cluster. And fan to when its go in heat. No overheating.
I tested fan and there are ok. Relay to.
I dont know how check or by pass a\c pressure switch.

I'm not sure about the low pressure switch and fan operation. I do know that the fans will turn on High when the engine reaches over 220 degrees F.

Did you pull back the wire covering to search for broken or brittle wiring?

yes a check wirring harness. And i dont find any broken wires. All are look nice at first view. No rust on connection.
But I sAw cooling fan dont work when A\C is on. I m sure that cooling fan should work when A/C is in function.?
I dont saw if A\C compressor work when A\C on. My next step.

Yes, I also agree that cooling fans should be on with A/C.

To test low pressure switch, unplug the wires from the switch and bend a paperclip into the holes on the wire connection near the compressor. This should cause the compressor to function.

Compressor work. But i saw that only one fan work and not all the time when a\c compressor work. And my motor had run a little bit before. I think it was hot to. Both fan don't have to work simultaneously? Or it is normal?

Both fans not working with compressor indicates a problem. Test both fans by wiring them directly to the battery separately. If one fan is fail, replace.

A temperature sensor should also be present with the fan assembly. It may not be working correctly.

There are also relays that provide power to the fans. I am not familiar with replacing them. I have a link to some part numbers for a 2000 Grand Prix fan relay - http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/p...fan+relay,3060

I finally found wirring diagram. And after all check . Wirring, fan and relay are ok. It's coolant temp sensor. Or the signal from the cpu.
