I bought a set of r1 concept eline drilled and slotted rotors. Just wondering for those who own these rotors, what did you do to break them in? I went to the r1concept faqs and I dont have an area where I can safely do multiple 45-65 mph hard stops.

Might have to find an empty lot or something. The idea's repetition to heat em without completely stopping, sure you know that.
It'll take longer (more stops) at slower speed, but the idea's the same.
Don't know how many stops or what speed would be good. Someone else probably did it, tho.
Alright, I know one street that doesnt get almost any traffic, some cops like to sit there tho since its a smooth curvey road, lots of wannabe drifters go. Thanks for the help!
Will do, how long have yours last before needing a new set?
mine are a year old but i also dont put a lot of miles on my car, but then again all i drive is local really. so they get used.
in the past if i got a year or so out of a set of pads it was the norm, im hoping these last longer, have not looked at them at yet but have noticed my master res is not full any more. so im sure theres some wear. the good news is new ceramic scorched pads are only 30 bucks. r1 sells them on ebay as well.
Oh sweet, I'll probably need to replace the pads every year then, I do a lot of highway/city driving about 30 miles everyday. The rotors hopefully last me 2-3 years. Not sure how harsh winters are in NJ but how does your rotors fair against rust? Winter here in Wisconsin is a salty hell.
what rust? lol nothing will rust except where the pads touch. and that wears off pretty fast and easy.
this was a month sitting when my tranny blew up, it rained a lot. no rust on the hats fins outer lip, nothing. just where the pads touch.

Oh nice, these should last me a long time then.![]()
theres also not a hint of a groove in the rotors, they are as smooth as the day i got them still.
i have noticed some times they feel like they are not grabbing as well. but like i said i dont put a lot of miles on it, so if i put some heat into them, they work like new again. kinda like they need a reminder lol
Quick note on the black ones. The hat looks good still. Edge on them have a white film that I might try scotchbrite on. Dunno if it'll come back.
Could be coating corrosion already from roadspray. Maybe stay with the silver or gold.
Also, some cooling holes on the inside of the hat were clogged with metal sh*t. Punch took care of it.
I was going to post this pic in my ride thread. Probably more pertinent here.
Those are the rears that took R1 ten days to get here. Hurried the order after I asked how the hell they wanna be a Google trusted store after having my money a week instead of listing "Out of Stock."
Saw salt on the roads because idiots can't drive. I'll be fixing it later.
Yea I had a pretty weird experience ordering from them, was suppose to get a shipping number as soon as it left their facility, never got it and could never log back in my account even after doing 3 resets. But still received them after 8 days. Will be installing this Wednesday. Also you guys know any good steel brake lines? Was gonna order the ones from ZZP but apparently those aren't really all that great.
Goodridge SS lines #12279...
ZZP's is made to their spec, a little longer but the Goodridge work fine. They're about $110 iirc...
http://www.regalgs.org/topic/54303-f...brake-upgrade/ this how to looks to have the same part # as stated up there ^^^^
