Hi everyone. I have a lead sled couch of a 2002 Buick Park Ave Ultra that I recently bought to replace a rusted 2001 of the same car. I fell into these cars for daily drivers because I had a different Buick that was ruined in a crash and had loads of new parts that I saved.
I had little money at the time so I got a car that could use some of my bits.
Well that one went 2 years and 44k miles but just had a lot of broken rusted body things that I got tired of looking at. Then my wife rubbed the whole driver side down a wall.
I started looking for an 3.8 supercharged Pontiac or such at that point. Everything I checked was bad, always rusted or clapped out.
Then I came upon this PAU with a nearly perfect body, one door ding. Really good interior. It had a picture in the ad of the car with Maryland plates, so I thought hmm no winter there! So I bought it cheap. It had dead struts, brake pulsation, misfiring ignition a couple of bad speakers. But that stuff doesn't phase me a bit.
I'm a manager at an auto repair shop. I've never wrenched for a living. To paraphrase an old tv commercial "I'm not a real mechanic but I play one on my time off".
I have a Formula F223LS boat that I am using and redoing too. I have hand built a 383 stroker for it with big cam and exhaust, Dart heads, raised compression. yada yada
On the Park Ave I did some KYB struts, Monroe rear air shocks rigged to the oe ride control, an OE lower control arm, outer tie rods were both loose. For brakes I used premium Centric coated rotors and their ceramic pads. They are stupendously smooth and quiet with loads of stop. I almost went to some slotted and dimpled brakes because my commute can be pretty annoying, but so far they are great.
My main reason for being here is to work out installing the 4th hub and solenoids in my trans, there's a 741 code in it that indicates the lock up isn't working. There are some great tutorials in here.
