Currently driving an 04 Grand Prix GT and for the past couple days there has been a terrible cringe inducing noise coming from my front end, (mostly on the left). The best way to desribe it is a grinding sounds that dies down when going striaght, but returns extra loud when turning and slowing down. I checked the power steering fluid (which we know is damn near impossible to get to) and saw it was empty so I got some and refilled it. Accidently put too much in so I got this siphoning device from my dad's garage. When I put in yesterday to take some fluid out a small rubber nub on the end of the tubing of the siphoning device fell into the resovoir. When I tried to fish it out with some long tweezers it ended up sinking and I couldn't feel it at the botttom. I told my dad about this and before I woke up this morning he told me he emptied the resovoir with the siphoner and couldn't find the rubber piece in there, so he put the fluid back. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? I cannot for the life of me find out how to remove the power steering pump, and I would rather keep this one and fix the problem rather than buy a new one if I can avoid it. Please, any suggestions or experience would help!

jack and support the car up, take pass front wheel off, undo both lines to the pump, have a pan handy fluid will leak out.

back under the hood theres two 13 mm bolts at 12 and 6 o clock that you get through the hole in the pulley. after its unbolted i pulled mine out through the pass side wheel well.

Thanks I saw a thread that went into a little more detail and a video where a guy does it on his '03 Regal. I'll work with what I got and try to get it out

Click on the search box {magnifying glass} at the top of the page and enter "power steering pump" and change the search function to "titles only" from "entire post" and there's plenty of info there...good luck
For the record : I am NOT a naked meth-head who shoves rocks up my butt.
