I doubt that the motor controlling that function of the seat has failed, it is probably an electrical problem. I would start by reaching under the seat and wiggling the wire connectors as you press the button to adjust the seat back. This might narrow it down to a bad connection. I would also suggest unplugging all the connections under the seat, checking them for corrosion on the wires and reassembling them. Sometimes just disconnecting/reconnecting them is enough to get your seat back working again.
Thank-you for the response. The problem I'm dealing with is that the previous owner cut the wiring harness for the seat controls and then installed a toggle switch to adjust the seat forward and backward. So at least that motor works. I've been trying to figure out where the harness was cut. I don't know if the motors went out on the seat that control all the other functions but forward and backward or what.

I bought the car for $1400 and it only has 133k miles. I don't want to invest to much money into it. It is a second car so I can cut back on driving my Chevy diesel so much and extend its life.
