New to the forum, but not new to Grand Prix. Currently own a 2002 GTP that was an Arizona car, and hence no rust. I do not drive it in the winter so it should stay pretty nice. I've been trying to do an upgrade every year, and this year I'm doing a tune (with a ZZP PCM) and Cat-back exhaust. I thought it would be a good idea to join a forum with like minded Grand Prix fans to I can avoid reinventing the wheel. I'm an engineer and a former aircraft mechanic (ten years USAF) so I'm handy enough to know I could use all the help I can get. Here's my hot rod...

    Nice!

Former Michigan guy, current Arizona guy. Looks like it's got decent tint. Probably saved the interior being baked.

Yep, that and the fact that is was garage kept and driven by an actual "little old lady". She got it new as her 65th birthday present and drove it very little. I'm the third owner. The second owner was a test driver at GM proving grounds. He didn't drive it in the winter either and only sold it because he found a great deal on a Corvette. I was very lucky to find it.

You know, i've never seen the USAF logo on a GP but I kinda like it! Welcome!!!

I'd save your money on the ZZP tune. Just have someone tune it that has a HP Tuners Suite. Or buy one and learn to do it. They go for about 600 but if you are already going to buy a tune from ZZP that's 100-150 that you could just put into having your own tuner. Plus if you get good at it you can make your money back.

I have my own but I don't mess with it enough to remember anything. There is guides on here to do basic tunes with the HP Tuners set up too.

    Just an idea for ya.

    2000 GTP: XP, P&P'd Heads, N*\Lq4 MAF, GenV, 42#'s, PRJ Rails\FPR, Racetronix, TEP w/ 3.29 Gears, 300m, 7/8" chain, SSAC's. - Collecting dust in my garage.

In addition to what rynoman03 said, if you do decide to buy a tuner, you can find tunes "similar to" vendor tunes around for free.

The main vendors (WBS, Intense, ZZP) all have about the same tune. They're known to run rich.

Reptile and Overkill both make great tunes if you don't want to buy a tuner and do it yourself.

ZZP pcm was already in my hands so that's my horse for now. Installed it along with a 3.5 pulley and headers this weekend. It's like a whole new hot rod!

Thanks for the advice. And I thought the wings would look kinda Trans-Am-esque and they do. They also go nicely with the USAF Vet plates.
