Maybe not. Some hold together and take a beating..some dont. Brandonhall builds em for good price. Ask ItHurtz and ask how it running.

The ones that take a beating are on extremely light builds. 3.6 pullies, no cam/no rockers, etc.

The ones that hold together and take a beating in a mildly built car don't do it for long. My last GP build had maybe 325 WHP. I got maybe 10k on the build and the trans started to slip bad.

Simply put, there are no factory freak/bulletproof 4T65E transmissions. They will all fail with any significant amount of power increase. Hell, the stock GXP transmissions fail all the time, and the LS4 only has 303 crank hp.

The fastest way to get a trans to fail, is the lead foot syndrome...

If you don't beat on it and stay out of boost, you can get a lifetime out of a stock trans.

But where's the fun in that? Lol

Yes. I'm convinced if you had a shift kit from the start. Drove like a grandma and changed fluid and filter every 25K. You would have minimal issues for lots o miles. 200k+

This thread is in regards to modding OP's GTP for performance. He mentions 1/4 mile, dyno and "surprising people".

That being said, he probably isn't looking to baby the car to keep the factory transmission going past 200k miles.

I own an 01 Grand Prix and if you want to spend minimal and get the most out of your car then look at zzperformance.com but... do not worry about their stage kits. Work on getting the full exhaust headers and catback... this will eliminate the need to upgrade the exhaust later when you start to push more power... Also if you are planning on spending 3000 here is how I would spend it.
    -Headers$600-$900
    -Catback$500
    -Fuel Log+Injectors$800
    -Fuel pump$100
    -Cam+springs ect $500
-If willing to spend about $3300 you can also get an intercooler to reduce KR.
-with the list above you still have about $200 dollars to play with on a $3000 budget so drop a pulley size to possibly a 3.4 or a 3.5 because the stock pulley is a bit big for the car.

I hope this helps in your journey.

you like paying full price for new crap.

i got a fsic, 42 injectors, a 5 pulley and hub kit, speed daddy headers and spent no more then a grand for it all used. i made my own custom fuel rail for 25 bucks too out of a spare stock rail.

theres no need to spend that much money on parts. they will pop up used sooner or later.

speed daddy headers are 220 shipped too, no need to spend 800 for zzp headers.

so how much is that tranny gonna cost ya now that your budget is blown? cause cams will kill the tranny sooner or later, and there goes 2 grand if not more when you add new upgraded hard parts.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW
