Just introducing myself. Joined the forum to find out more about my Grand Prix and any tips or hints on them. Not going to lie I am a Mustang guy, but I have bought 2 Grand Prix's the past 2 years one a 2002 GT and the other 2000 GTP and looking to build and mod my GTP to hang with my Mustang street car. I have been impressed with the quickness of the Grand Prix and just wanting to build something different. So Hello all!

to make real HP like 400 up, you got 6 to 7 grand to dump into a gtp? cause you'll need a built tranny, and turbo, and a tuner.

blowers quit at 350 hp pretty much. the tranny hates life at 300 to 350. just a cam on a m90 will break the stock input shaft. turbos put up way more power. they grenade trannys.

as you can see here, the tranny is the weak link here.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

You're going to need a built trans if you want to go further than the basics. Triple Edge Performance has what you'll want for about $4,500.

If that didn't scare you away, you have to decide if you want to go turbo or stay supercharged.

Thats the only bummer, the transmission is worth far more than the car will ever be lol.

Thanks guys. I know you never get the money out of what you put in them. I put a post in the GTP section of this 2000 GTP I bought and having issues with. I probably will go with the small mods at first as my money in being poured in the Mach 1 right now. But I do love my day driver GT.

I restored a 70 Mach1 for a customer a couple years back, that was fun. But unless it's hot rodded, it won't take giant effort on behalf of the 3800 to hang with it. I also have a GT and GTP, both 99s. So I thought I'd welcome you here. Heck if you're gonna go turbo and tough trans, your GT might be the one to soup up for a few reasons. Enjoy the projects and show us the Mach if you get a chance.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.
