Hello everyone, my recent purchase of a 97 Supercharged GTP with 159k miles on it is what has led me to this forum. There are a lot of things I do not understand about these damn things and so many unclear directions from multiple resources I'm getting irritated. Many problems with this car so far and many different noises etc happening from time to time and I am hopeful I can find the right information here. I am in Denver, Co which so is half of the whole united states from what I can tell, so I'm hoping I might be able to find a local resource here as well. Problems I am experiencing in short form; lower motor mount, serious oil leak, transmission leak possibly, squeeking squeeling and gravel like sounds while driving (pulleys, coupler in supercharger I know are to blame for most of the noise) Alternator mounting bracket is the only one of it's kind from what I can tell since no cars in multiple junk yards have anything close to mine and my searches are showing everything but my style bracket which mine just so happens to be sheered in half so my alternator just spits the belt off whenever it feels like it, I stopped driving it because of this issue but if I hadn't I'm sure this would have become quite the reoccurring issue, A/C doesn't work, not sure why exactly. Im sure there's more going on then that but that's all I can rattle off at this moment.

If I were you I would replace the transmission pan gasket, which is probably where your transmission leak is coming from. I would then replace the engine, and do all the motor mounts while you're doing so. That should get rid of a majority of your issues.

The AC could just need recharged if it isn't blowing cold.

97s had a different style alternator bracket than 98-03, and 04+ had even more different. You could switch the bracket to a different style quite easily, it's just a matter of a few bolts. Take care when removing the old bracket, the lower heater hose extension can crack the front cover very easily if you aren't previously aware of it.

Motor mounts go bad, replace it with a solid one, or make the old stock one solid with a tube of polyurethane caulk. The supercharger coupler is easy as well, sseilmnop sells kits with everything you need, just pm him.

The oil leak, depending on where it's coming from, could be an easy cheap fix, or a still cheap but slightly difficult fix.

The AC, I would get it recharged after you get everything else fixed, and professionally. You won't need it charged again for years.

There's much more information on here, a few minutes and the search function could save you a lot of time, money and heartache. Good luck with the car!

Thank you very much for your response. The alternator brackets I see that are 'universal' or whatever are all like $115 where the specific bracket for the car is like $11-$18, know of any place where that's not the case or know of anything I can do besides buying a new one??

you need to use the 96-98 alt bracket on your car, or you'll also need to upgrade the alt, cause yours wont fit a 99-03 bracket.

96-98 has the cast lower elbow. you only need to use one new elbow, then take the o ring off the other elbow and put it on the bracket.

directions, read the part about the 96-98 http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...coolant-elbows
