for my wife. And actually, I really like the car. It's a white 4 door, with graphite cloth interior. 128K miles. We are located in Northern Indiana. I mean Northern. Real Northern. Like about 10 miles from the southern edge of Lake Michigan. They salt the roads around here like it's the North Pole. I bought this car from about 100 miles south of here. The main reason I bought it was because there is absolutely zero rust anywhere on this car. I put it up on my hoist in my shop at home and got a pleasant surprise when I inspected the bottom side. Of course I looked under it when I first looked at it, but these cars set so low you can't really get a good look until you lift it up.

My wife had a 97 Grand Am GT that she bought new, but after driving it thru 19 winters here it was ate up underneath. I replaced the fuel line from the tank, to the engine compartment. I also replaced a couple steel brake lines. The fuel tank was about ready to start leaking, and that's when I decided I had enough. I can't even remember how many exhaust systems / repairs were done.

I've done a good amount of work to her "new" Pontiac (Grand Prix) to get it dependable for her. There is one last thing that I'm trying to do, but I can't seem to be able to find the part. There were 4 lug nut covers missing for some reason, and I'm having a hard time locating replacement's. I drove 30 miles today to a local auto salvage yard but was not able to find any. They are stamped stainless steel covers that screw onto the threaded lug nuts. I need 4 more to have a full set. I looked on E-Bay, but none there. Where can I find these? Can anyone please help ?

Nice find, rust free in that area is rare. The lug nut covers are hard to find, most toss them when they switch to new wheels.

You should link a few pics, hosting them off-site works best for this forum. Also a detailed list of what you did, so we can tell you what you missed. Lol

I've not seen any stamped stainless covers that screw on to the lugnuts in all my years dealing with the Gp, the ones on the 6th gen are usually a plastic screw on lug nut cover. Those could possibly be aftermarket?

Plastic inside, stainless outside? I had 2 black ones inside my trunk when I bought it, they did screw onto the outside of my lug nuts... And I did throw them away.

I believe the black plastic ones are GM "parts bin" parts. I have quite a few if you know the OD. I haven't seen shiny OEM ones before.

Spent some time this morning wet sanding / buffing the headlights on the GP.

I took a couple images of these stainless steel (thin sheet metal) stamped lug nut covers. I was going to post some images of them along with one of the car, but I guess I can't do that on this forum. Don't know how to post / link / & all the other stuff to get these things seen here.
I grew up in the era of no computers, so I'm seriously lacking in those skills!

Anyway, I REALLY like the looks of these SS lug nut covers. I've spent a considerable amount of time looking for them on the Internet, to no avail. With 4 of them missing, I just took them all off the car. How could someone not put them all back on ? I just don't get it. I guess I'm too picky. Meanwhile, I'm looking for a complete new set of screw on SS lug nut covers. I don't think I'll ever find the 4 that I need. Don't really care for the black plastic ones. The SS looks far more better (in my openion).

Next, I think I would like to paint the calipers with a good quality gloss black paint. The wheels are, I think, original to the car. I don't know what they are called, but they have thin (spokes), and the brake calipers are highly visible. They have some light surface rust, and I just want to make them more presentable.

Smashed, scratched, corroded or lost. Some shiny lug sets come with little protector things for your tire iron. Might be worth checking out.

If you're picky, I believe the headlight replacements you'll want are TYC brand...or go all out for retrofits.

You could just buy new chrome lug nuts. Then no covers. Set of 20. Also on the headlights. I have done the wetsanding and they looked ok. New ones on eBay are like 55 bucks so pretty cheap for the pair and they look a lot better.

So last night I bought a set of LED tail lights on e-bay. Does anyone know if I'll have to install a resistor ?
I saw a clip on u-tube where after someone installed an after market tail light it blinked way too fast, so they had to wire in a resistor of some type.

If you take one into the local parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc) they have a bin behind the counter with single lug nuts in it, usually by the "pro" desk. They have chrome capped lugnuts, you'll just have to look and see if they have the thread pitch and style you're looking for. Don't bother with the computer, just ask to see the parts bin in the back. They should let you, I've never had any issue.
