    Hi,

Minnesota owner here. I've been looking around and keep ending up back here, so introductions are in order. I used to own both a 1997 & 1999 GTP, but never an 04+. I get the basics, maybe even a little more, but looking over this newer car I see a lot of differences (duh, right?) There's also certain things about this very one I have questions about. I've been searching around here and other forums, so please bear with me.

Firstly, I have a few things about mine from the factory that maybe aren't usual (again, I don't know). It's in GM paint code WA214M. This color was only available on 05 & 06 GP's and a few SUVs up to 2010 or so. Correct me if that's wrong. The clear's jacked up on mine. I've talked to four shops, two big, one from a tiny town back home, and one from a guy that's done work I already trust. All are telling me that the color's expensive. I'd agree, but they are asking something like +%25 just because of the color. Are they pullin my chain, or what? These were general "whole car" paint services priced.

Another major thing is that this example seems to have been dealer maintained up to 100k. Was that even a warranty service option on these?

There's also a sticker listing under GM Accessories that reads, "Dealer installed accessories: Custom Accessories Package; Dual Round Exhaust Tips, Custom Grille Inserts and Custom Rear Spoiler. I have no reference on the year, but the spoiler on it doesn't look like my friends '08 GP. It has monsoon sound, but I need some help locating the amplifier.

This car doesn't have the u bend, even though parts are listed for it; currently mild steel hi flow cat w/delete $80, ebay. Also, I need to know the stock exhaust size. The majority says its 3" inlet on the DP to 2.25" inlet/outlet on to the resonator, then its 2" (1.875") to the mufflers. Correct? I found a conflicting answer, but it was written so that it appeared the DP would be mounted in reverse when described, either that or they were thinking the wrong section.

Thanks a bunch. Glad to meet ya, Cheers!

It's very possible that a gallon of that paint is 15-25% more than a standard color. Your color is like like 3-4 different colors in one depending on what way the light hits it. I know tri-coat colors are stupid expensive and super hard color match, I don't think it's a tri-coat color though.

Comp-G do have a different spolier than a regular grand prix and grille inserts, so that's all right for the accessories package.

Correct, there is no u-bend on the 3800's for 2004-2008. The stock exhaust size for the downpipe is roughly 2.5 OD and necks down to 2.25 for the rest of the exhaust to the y-pipe, then it's basically 2in piping (1 7/8th)

I've been reading around quite a bit, and I think I have my plans. I won't document everything here and put a new thread in Rides (w/pics soon).

What I will say is that this forums knowledge is extremely helpful. I suppose on that note, my only real plans for the winter are a suspension refresh and brake upgrade. That's of course after all the other maintenance I can't find a record for.

The other major plan is saving for a quality set of headers asap, but more on that later. Lookin forward to hangin around.
