i just purchased a 2005 gp gxp. it needs lifters. i got what i feel was an ok deal on the car. anyways i plan on getting rid of the dod and installing a small camshaft with a tune. i have read about installing a trans cooler, but is there anything else i should be concerned with? car has 147k on it. i did notice that the car needs engine/trans mounts. so i plan to change them while the engine is pulled. is there some good mounts i can use? i have never had good luck from stock or anchor ones. thanks in advance for your help.

Check the trans over real good, I would do a pan drop change the filter and put in fluid.

In that case I would at least check the color of the fluid and top it off as necessary.

The cooler is a good thing, but you should toss in a shift kit first, or at the same time.

What shift kit? I'm pretty much just want to keep the trans together as long as I can.

The shift kit will get rid of/prevent code P1811, which is caused by other part(s) failing in the tranny. The shift kit is a "band-aid" fix that has proven itself for many. Many have done it, and some have thousands of miles and years of use on their cars. Well worth it for the price IMO. I have 4 years of use on mine.

Only thing that worries me is that it currently has 147k on the car. I don't know if it's been rebuilt/replaced or how hard those miles were. It seems to currently shift fine, but hard to tell with the misfire from a dead lifter.

Tough call, but you have 2 choices..... leave it as is and hope for the best, or mess with it and hope for the best. LOL

There are some that say don't touch it or even change the fluid, but I just can't do that.

Well it had a drain and refill done 2k ago. So I will probably get the shift kit and the bigger cooler from b&m.
