This is my first visit to these forums. I'm the extremely proud owner of a 2008 Grand Prix GXP v-8 5.3L. I bought it in July 2015 and I absolutely love it!
I've had some major issues with it and I've been getting them worked out. The last owner really cooked the hell out of it. They completely fried the transmission inside and out. The whole transmission failed on me three months after I bought it. I had it rebuilt, but that was only the start of the damage the owner put it through. There were (and may still be) some wires that were melted together causing the engine to go into reduced power mode every now and then. I had three wires replaced and that fixed that issue. I later replaced the thermostat, temperature sensor, and radiator cap to stop the engine from overheating every time I idled for too long. The car also had no transmission cooler of any kind which wasn't a problem in the winter here in Michigan, but I certainly didn't want to make to Spring before getting that taken care of. I had a large cooler with fan installed a few days ago and it's working extremely well.
Now, one of my headlights has been seen off during the day (in the reflection of a pickup truck), but was on again by nightfall. Also, the airbag warning light now comes on every now and then. On top of all that, the receiver in my car stereo is shot.
It's a work in progress, but I love this car so much that I'm willing to stick with it and solve all of the issues. The performance is amazing! It's zero to 60 time is awesome! Whomever had it before me had done some serious modifications and I don't know enough to even guess at what all he's done. My car and I still have a lot of work to do to fully get to know each other, but so far, we seem to have developed a great partnership.
I'll get pictures up soon.
