Hey guys I just picked up a 2001 GTP SE, Black with the Black/grey interior. Its got 228K but overall a pretty clean car. Leather is in surprisingly great shape for the miles. The rocker panel moulding brackets have rusted, which seems like a fairly common problem with these. The paint on the "heat extractors" and rear wing has faded in a few spots but otherwise the body is in pretty good shape too.
Overall I like the car, decent power, MPG's kinda suck, but with $2 gas who cares. Pulls surprisingly hard for a giant 4 door sedan.
It gets squirmy in the rear going over potholes and such in the city, bumped tire pressure up but no help. I'm guessing maybe wear on some rear bushings? Wheel bearing are solid.

Anyways, thought I'd introduce myself and share my thoughts.

Because of gearing, the in town MPG will be pretty bad. Expect around 14-18 city and 27-30 on the open road doing the speed limit.

A tune up never hurts either and always run 91+ octane with that motor.

For the rear suspension, likely it's the struts/mounts and the trailing arms are super weak because factory they are just stamped steel. Solid trailing arms help stiff the rear end up.

Yeah the sunroof visor will have to go. I've been getting a solid 18-18.5 in town so all in all I really cant complain, just a massive change from the 30+ I was getting with my Mazda Protege. There couldnt be a greater difference in cars between those two. The Mazda was fantastic fun to throw around in the twisties, but was completely gutless. This car is much faster, but the brakes and steering are quite numb, and you certainly feel the mass of the car, which is to be expected.

Previous owner did a full tune up (iridium plugs, new MAF, AMSOIL eveything) a little overkill in my opinion but I'll take it.
I bought it with a few little issues (ABS, purple peeling tint, tie rod ends, lots of little odds and ends). I'll probably drive it through the winter, the hopefully sell it in the spring. Hopefully be a bit of a money maker to put into my motorcycles!

Ha! The first thing a friend of mind said was guys would pay crazy money for the roof rails. I actually just had them both pulled off, so I could re apply fresh weatherstrip adheasive, as they were lifting on the ends

Looks really solid all around considering its age + mileage. Interior looks pretty perfect as well. Even with the cracks in the leather it's still intact. As for the bushings, who knows? These cars take so much heat from the road. I'm surprised mine, 90k when bought, was still driving straight let alone yours with over 200k! If you can figure it out before it bottoms out on a driveway then you're golden !

Should've sold them for like $150 and make a nice pocket of cash. Then buy some others haha.

It took me awhile to find a 40th anny with roof rails on them, and anytime i asked for the trim pieces, they always said you mean the roof rails??200$!. I was surpised on the 15$.

He said I could of had the whole interior, the door panels, seats ect for 50$, but I didn't wanna make the hour trip again.
