    I've removed my TB several times with no issues and left the exhaust in place. It is tight, but my fat hands got it done.

    there was literally no way to get a socket/wrench in there to remove the bolt......I am a interprovincislly licensed motor mechanic in Canada with 35 years experience

    So you are working on a pre 2004 naturally aspirated motor. I have gotten then lower bolt to loosen with a ratcheting pivot head wrench. Also.. you can undo the top bolt and simply "adjust" the bracket forward. By bringing it toward the radiator, you are naturally loosening it.

    After 35 years, you've likely had to improvise many times. I'm surprised this gave you such a hard time.

    2002 GP 3.8L n/a....yes the pipe was that close that there was no access
