How to's shouldn't be full of jibber jabber.
i have an aux option button on my radio but its not xm radio or disc changer is that a superfluous button or is there a way i can tap into it.
sorry but with out any other module attached ie changer, xm module, that button is useless.
if you look onto the back of you stock radio see if it has the 12 pin connector. If it does than you can still install an auxillary adapter that works great. I use it in my car and so much cheaper and easier of an option compared to cutting wires and doing rewiring.Quote:

I posted this a month ago. This adapter will only work if you have a 12 pin connector in the back of your radio and a slave unit with your radio. I recommend pulling your radio out first and looking before ordering. If your in doubt if it will work or not take a picture of the back of your radio and post it on here. Also do you have xm radio, and external cd changer, or any other external operating things hooked up to your radio.Quote:
hey i just wanna throw this out there for any 04 plus grand prix owners. theres a 30 dollar fix for installing a aux input into your cars. If you have xm radio or any slave unit in your car not counting the 6 disc in dash cd changer there is a kit made by pac audio that is 30 bucks on ebay. Its super easy to install and alot more convenient. There is no interference in it like there is in fm modulators or anything. The exact model for it is AAI-GM12.
Thanks for the writeup. I was able to tap into these wires up behind the factory radio. Same colors. Headunit is very easy to take out, so I found that easier than running the AUX cable through the car. If you use a 3.5mm audio jack, you can just splice the jack inline and have both AUX and working XM radio btw. Just unplug the cable from the jack and XM radio will resume.
Agreed. Even in the OP, you said we'll be using Pin 10 (tan) as the audio ground. But two pictures later you say to connect the negatives to black/white (electrical ground). THIS WILL WORK. However it gave me some electrical noise through the speakers only when no audio was playing. Playing even a silent track made the noise go away, oddly enough, so it's really not that big of a deal. I was pressed for time and didn't have the opportunity to try out the tan wire, but my guess is that it'll eliminate the electrical noise altogether.
audio commom= audio ground, whats so hard to under stand common=negative.
So why ask the question then, I did this on my first try with no help. So can you sobs
thank you sir yeah its pretty easy stuff
I simply pointed out that you told people to use two different wires. That's all. I don't care if one is a ground while the other gives you free cupcakes. I simply pointed out the discrepancy. Don't get all butt hurt because your discrepancy confuses someone who may not be as electrically inclined as you. If you don't want to help people, then don't make the walkthrough. I said thanks, but maybe now I'm starting to regret it...
look at the diagram and tell me what it says? blk/tan only combo of those colors there, when i did this original it was done on a corvette, different diagrams, so im sorry for helping you. Besides the point you have a total of 2 post, you joined for my write up or your a troll, get out ma thread
does anyone have a solution for the non -XM 6 disk with On Star input? I have searched high and low, gave up and bought a Scotche FM modulator that goes inline with the antenna cable. It worked for a week, now works for 10-15 mins, cuts out. My problem is the door chimes, etc come through the speakers so if I replace the head unit I loose all the headlight alarms, etc.
