    hey all
I have play in what seems like the Rack itself like scotty said slop in the rack . but I was thinking could it be in the intermediate shaft . before I pulled the tranny and frame there was no play at all .

Im in the middle of this project. Got everything disconnected, but now I'm having a hard time getting the Pinion to slide back up into the steering linkage u-joint. Any tips or tools that can get everything to slide back in? Do I need to grease them up? Somehow pry the ujoint part open a bit? Thanks for any help!

you should already have the rear sub frame lowered, so pull the shaft down as far as it will go, then jack the frame up to it. easiest way ive found to get that damn thing back on.

    Update:

Got the rack and pinion back in, connected everything, and got it realigned. So far so good (but only a day into it.) We'll see how the driveway looks tomorrow morning!

I have always used a small pry bar or screwdriver to open it more. Usually slides right in after that.
