take a sawz all and cut the u bend section of tailpipe out after removing the O2 sensor.(the piece of pipe directly behind the catalytic converter. get a piece of straight pipe and weld it in(if you plan on keeping your rear o2 sensor weld in a bung for it before you weld it in the car on the side of the new section of pipe) re insert o2 and that is it...
I believe it is either 2.25 or 2.5 inches........not sure. Hopefully someone will chime in that has done this........
Depending on your application, if you are staying with your stock cat and stock exhaust, 2.5" will be just fine. But if you have a 3" DP and 3" cat along with it, you will want to have it 3" at the cat end and then tappered down to 2.5" on the catback end.
Also another thing to look out for is makings sure person doing the work does not cut off the catback cuppler. My place did that and it a ***** when I switched to my 3" DP. Another place had to fab up a new connector between the catback and the piping off the cat.
usually you can get it done for $50 or so.......sometimes more, sometimes less.....depends what the rates are in your area and how much business you do with them. Call around and get some quotes from exhaust shops in your area.......you can also just buy the u bend delete if you want from some vendors........cheaper to do it locally though.
yes.....it just affects the flow, not the emissions. It is after the cat and the last sensor. As long as you DO reinstall the sensor.
Liquifire was right on with the cost. Most of the cost is labor. It takes almost nothing in materials to get the job done really, you only need maybe 4-5" of piping and the bung attachment added to the pipe to reattach your rear O2 sensor.
I got it done by my friends at Car X. They have done all my exhaust work on all my GPs. They know me to well![]()
