Hello my 2000 Grand Prix GT with 222,000 miles non supercharged 3.8 with no codes starts fine when its cold but after its up to temp and you shut it off and then restart it, it fires up then dies. I've heard the resistor might be out. Anybody now the replacement part NO. and where to buy? Dealer item only? Thanks

    Sounds like a crank sensor.

If you give it a little throttle, will it stay running? I've heard of dirty intake air passages around the butterfly that can get clogged and mess with the airflows at idle.

I'd start simple. Is the throttle body and IAC clean?

you dont have a high speed resistor.

could be a fuel pressure regulator. or a dirty TB.

Yes the throttle body is clean but haven't checked the IAC, and yes if I give it a little throttle for about 10 seconds it will stay running.

Think scotty is pointing in a good direction, especially if the tb is clean. Pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and make sure there is no fuel in it. You can do this with it running or not running. I have personally taken one off while running, and seen gas squirt out of it.

And yeah, 2 speed fuel pump is a supercharged thing.

have the car scanned anyway. you could have a code pending.
