I just got my resonator replace about a month ago and just notice where they added the joint sealer the back end of it came off, in the result there is a small leak where the two joints meant. I tried this product http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/ve...l#.VfFi6fA7eis twice with no success. First time applied I waited about 6hrs and the stuff came right off, second time applied I waited 24hrs and the stuff came off. The garage used a rubberize stuff that tends to hold better this stuff I use it dries and turns solid. Either I need a silicon base stuff or I remove the clamp that is holding the other half and put the muffler tap around the joint. Can anybody recommend something that will work and that dries soft and not get hard.

    Thanks

I assume they did not weld it because they cut off the resonator and insert a new one so they did not have to remove the entire muffler. I can go back to the garage and tell them to fix it but its only installing a step clamp which I never knew about then I can do it myself. Would you know by any chance what size I need?

Exhaust joint sealer? A shop used that? Brutal! That crap is for wanna-be-home-mechanics, not shops that are supposed to know what they are doing. As already said, I'd take it back and have them weld or clamp the pipe in place, like they should have done from the get go.

I brought it back that week and the clamp moved abit causing it to make noise. The tech moved it back and re-torque the clamp and it was good for about 2 weeks and now there is a whistling noise and sure enough the clamp moved abit. The guy torqued it pretty good why does it keep on moving. They don't weld at that shop so welding is not an option.

Find a shop that will weld it... Clamps only go so far.
