I was wondering shouldn't the built in car alarm ring if I open the door from the inside? Example I rolled down the window and arm the car, I then reach in and open the door from the inside as to mimic a force entry, doing this the alarm didn't ring. I was under the impression is should.

Try opening the door then closing the door, press the lock button 2 times then pull the lock up by hand and open the door. If that doesn't work get out of the car and do the same thing with the window down.

Negative, press the lock button twice pull the lock by hand and opened the door and nothing, repeated the same process from the outside when the window was down and it didn't ring.

Ring? The horn goes off on my 05', there are some settings in the DIC for locking, unlocking and whether or not the key will disarm the system. I am not sure about 08' but it should work the same as far as arming it and then opening the door.

I mean the horn didn't sound, so it's some setting that needs to be turned on?

I am not sure on the 08' but there are settings in the DIC (Drivers Information Center), it's the deal in the middle with the 3 or 5 buttons on it. It has the mileage, and trip odo on it. My car has a 3 button one and there are settings in there for the security system.

I found the settings on the DIC and the anti theft is turned on. Quick question do you have the option where you can disarm the alarm if it sounds by inserting the key in the driver key cylinder? This option from the manual

KEY CYLINDER DISARM: If the vehicle has a content
theft-deterrent system, and ON was selected on the
THEFT DETERRENT screen, this screen allows
this feature to be turned OFF or ON. This feature
determines whether the driver’s door key cylinder may
be used to disarm the content theft-deterrent system.
If OFF is selected, the vehicle’s content theft-deterrent
system can not be disarmed by unlocking the driver’s
door using the driver’s door key cylinder. Selecting OFF
prevents a thief from disarming the vehicle’s content
theft-deterrent system by attacking the driver’s door key
cylinder, and may make the vehicle more secure.
However, if OFF is selected, unlocking an armed vehicle
by using the driver’s door key cylinder and opening
the door will cause the content theft alarm to activate.
For this reason, it is recommended that the vehicle
be unlocked using the remote keyless entry system
when this feature is set to OFF.
If ON is selected, the vehicle’s content theft-deterrent
system can be disarmed by unlocking the driver’s
door using the driver’s door key cylinder.
    To program this mode:
    1. Press the set/reset button to scroll to OFF or ON.
    2. Press the options button again to advance to
    the next screen.

Yes that is one of the options on my car. I didn't get a manual with my car so I have just scrolled through the menus. Does the radio shut off when you open the door? I am wondering if the latch switch is working.

Yes it does shut off, I think I am not waiting long enough for the alarm to fully arm

Maybe so I haven't tried mine immediately after arming. Most of the time I walk up to the car forgetting its armed and the door lock works when it wants to and it goes off when I open the door.
