In 15 years of driving GP's, I have probably seen every issue of shakes/vibrations/rattles/pulsations, etc. Like you stated, I have always made sure to keep everything as new as possible. Having 157K is some serious mileage, and like me, I expect the car to drive and handle like a new one once I replaced rotors, tires, hubs, tie rods, struts, strut mounts, and other components. Quite often though, there is still a shimmy or shake or something (I always blame myself because I do almost all the work on the cars now)
Here are a few more things to check:
- you state you have brand new tires up front, but were they properly balanced before installed?
- since you have new tires, when was the last time you had an alignment?
- the front hubs are new, but is the axle nut properly torqued?
- also, check the lug nuts of front wheel, make sure they are torqued
Yes, these things may seem simple and obvious, but I have had the same issue you described in the past, and found that it was not the control arms or tie rod ends.
