I took my car to a buddys shop and had them read the
ABS codes for me and its showing the left rear speed sensor is causing the lights.
Do I need a new rear hub or just replace the sensor ??

Jack the car up and grab the wheel and check for play. Also spin it by hand and see if you hear any noise. If there is play and/or noise you need a hub.
ok thanks stealth.. going outside to check it out now..
I went out and took the left rear wheel off and checked the hub and its nice and quiet and no sign of play. I unplugged the sensor and cleaned out the connection, put it all back together and took for a drive and the ABS light is still on. I guess I have to get a new hub ?
make sure the wires are not torn up along the lca. on both side. clean the other sides plug too.
you do have rear abs sensors too, pull them plugs and clean em up too. check for play as well.
Scott.. when I pulled the left rear wheel I only seen one connector going to the hub.. is there another ?
You can trace the circuits to the pcm to make sure no wires are broken, will require a pin out diagram pcm/sensor. Or you can cheat... Get a new rear hub from wherever, but do not take rear hub off car at first, just put new hub connected to plug and see if the light resets when turning car on. If it is the sensor in the hub, you'll know as cel will clear. Then you can replace it. If light doesn't go off you can return hub uninstalled in the box for refund (do it locally).
I actually had a replacement hub (Moog) from factory that had wire broken to plug socket. Didn't know until I replaced the thing and had to do it twice, lol. Lesson learned, worth plugging it in prior to install to check that it is functional.
thanks coolone... that's a good idea. Ill get a another hub and try it before I install it. Shouldn't the hub turn to reset the light ?
The system self-checks at each key cycle, so no resetting required. FWIW, electrical tape on the wire shrouding and connector on the left rear of my 99 GTP fixed this for months. I need new tape now but yes it was just moisture at the backside of the connector in my case.
thanks again for all the help, hopefully I can figure out what the problem is. Im anal about having idiot lights on..
