This morning I noticed the car (02 GP GT) is making a hammering sound from the front left tire when driving straight. Veering to the left or the right and it goes away, but come back when the wheel is straightened. It's not concurrent with engine speed only road speed. CV Axle or Wheel Bearing?

sounds like a bearing. jack that wheel up lugs tight, push and pull the top of the tore feeling for play. if it moves, the hub is bad.

buy a moog, or skf or timken, all of those have a 3 year warranty. cheap hubs are that, cheap. buy on line at advance auto, add a code for money off, then pick up local in 30 minutes. now you have a nice local warranty.

Yeah, I thought I could get by with the driveworks ones from Advance, but apparently that's not cutting it. I'll look into the Moog or Timken, thanks!

even the moog and timkin and skf fail too, but you got 3 years worth of warranty. i warrantied my one front hub 3 times now i think.

the other side went bad, so wtf they know, new free hub, then the one i originally bought seized up, so one more time, good thiong they are not the worst repair out there.

Yeah I checked hoping the Driveworks had a longer warranty on it, but it's only a year and I'm pretty sure it's beyond that.

Trick: buy new hub and install it. Keep old hub and return it with latest invoice for warranty in 6 months. Get replacement and keep for next time it is needed.

oddly enough, even a delco part brand new in a box is not as good as the ones they got at the factory. just like the original brake pads.

whats that hub go for? like 250?

they always want the old hub or pay the core charge.

Yup. They all suck. I paid $129 for the Delco. Previous SKF was $119.

how much you wanna bet? there is to a core. when you buy one you pay a core charge unless you bring in the old one with you.

then when you warranty it they want the old hub back too. how you think they get hubs to rebuild?

You go through hubs like I go through fuel pumps lol. I replaced both front bearings with Moog. 125 ea after discount.
