1997 GTP, I'm only replacing because my old one has the outside lettering worn off of it and also my cruise hasn't worked since I bought the car a couple of years ago. I'm trying to get the cruise to work again, and have a cruise control module on the way. Fuses are good, brake lights and 3rd brake lights all work, so I'm thinking it's either the lever or the module.

I know where the 2 bigger main wire harnesses go, but the 2-wire connector with a black wire and a green w/white stripe wire is giving me fits! It wasn't hooked up when I took the old lever off and I've been doing numerous searches, watching videos, pics, but nothing helps. The closest I got was a venture/montana van and the guy installing the part plugged that little 2-wire connector into a round part under the dash, which I can't find in my car.

EDIT: Maybe that 2-wire connector is just there for OTHER vehicles, like that van I saw in the video? There's 2 switches that are mounted above the brake pedal, one is for the brakes and the other is for the cruise, if I'm understanding the setup correctly. The top (smaller one) is supposedly for the cruise, when you hit the brakes it disengages the cruise. It does have a 2-wire connector already attached to it so I'm confused...still.

    PLEASE help!

If the old one wasn't hooked up then you may not need it. Hook the other plugs up and test everything. If all works, move on to the next problem. Our cars are littered with unused plugs and connectors.

Thank you for replying, that's what I was thinking too, but wanted to be sure, if possible. Gotta wait till the cruise control module comes to test the cruise, the lever didn't fix the cruise issue, but the lever works great as far as everything else goes. The person I got the module from sent it MEDIA mail, so slower than molasses, but hopefully will be here Monday. *sighs*

No problem. One thing I didn't mention...... to confirm the plug is un-used, look closely at the old one and see if there are any rub marks on it from being plugged in.

You know, that's one thing I didn't do......let me go have a look at it.

Sure enough, no wear or rub marks. Kind of dusty, but that's about it. Now why didn't I think of that? lol Thanks again!
