Hey guys, so my car recently started leaking ATF pretty badly. Seems to be leaking from below the radiator slightly toward the passenger side. After pulling the splash guard off and taking a quick look, I'm 99% sure it's from one or both of the lines that run from the transmission along the crossmember the radiator sits on (when looking up from under the car). One of them seems VERY rusty, although it was hard to see so I couldn't pinpoint exactly where the leak was. I assume these are the trans cooler lines?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with replacing these and can give me an idea of what it would take. I'm hoping it's not too much of a PITA and doesn't require removing the radiator or anything like that. Looking on rockauto under transmission, they list 2 "oil cooler" lines, one upper and lower. Are these them? Are there other parts I need when doing this, like replacement fittings? They have quite a few options listed under oil cooler line connectors, so I'm not too sure what a full set consists of.

Thanks for any help, car is the 02 gtp in my sig btw

they rust break leak where the rubber line meets the metal line.

line swap is easy, theres a tool. but most dont have it to remove the lines from the rad and tranny. its like a fuel line quick dis connect.

if you dont have this tool you can pull the wire clip out with a pick, then put the clip right back in the rad or tranny with the line removed.

when you put the new line in, you just push it in through the clip and you'll feel it click, then tug back on it to make sure its locked in.

Just one word of warning. Be really careful if you're pulling those clips with a pick. They like to go flying, never to be seen again. I like to have a strong magnet touching the clip as I pull it.

I recommend replacing both line at the same time and buying extra clips. I used couple tiny screw drivers made it pretty easy to get thrm out. Hsrd part is getting the lines to line back up.

Just did this job a month or so ago, wasn't any problem. As long as you have spare clips the quick connects actually make the job really easy. I did have to cut the lower line in half to get it out though.

Keep in mind Red that the different years and even sometimes mid year minor changes could change the part number.

Got them changed out today, leak seems to have stopped. I'm an idiot and didn't pay attention to how they were routed with all the other ac lines and wire loom and stuff down there...so I'm pretty sure they are in there wrong but oh well, it works.
