Love that word!
If anything, I'd just put a momentary switch on the power wires to the injector. This is a little redneck, but you kinda get the idea. The injector gets fuel and is "pressurized" then just tap it a few times.
ooooooor if only there was a thing that used these fancy devices to run and had all this fancy circuitry and programming to pulse them perfectly.. hmmm wonder what we could do.. OH I KNOW! A F*CKING CAR!
OP
Remove bolts
Remove Injectors
Install New Ones
Replace Bolts
Start Car
Does it Run?
No --> Bad Injectors, see step 1
Yes --> Drive, enjoy.
I'd at least check resistance before doing that. I did that to my dad's Civic and the injector was stuck open completely and flooded the cylinder...then the piston came up and popped the head gasket like a ballon. That was fun.
the op asked about testing the injector off the car before it was installed so I figured he just wants to see if it's stuck or will actually move the disc when he powers it. There was no need to involve the car whatsoever. I never said anything about leaving the injector connected to power for extended periods of time.
Yes I have an associates in electronic engineering and have had for more than 20 years.
when people tell me that PWM makes a huge difference in how to power and test an injector they are talking out of the side of their mouth. Real talk and I'm no keyboard warrior, I will literally fly out and say it to your face if I'm in the area.
In response to your "record" it's a moot point, because testing it on the car is never mentioned. He has used injectors and wanted to test them before he put them in.
a fresh 9V battery will usually get it to open under no load (ie pressure)
Booba I was going to suggest just the type of test you posted, but solvents and arcing could cause problems of the high temp variety. So I just said just test it and make sure it clicks. It is very rare that a used injector will be gummed up without being able to see the build up in the screen on the inlet. That is a very valid test off the car. Which was I thought what the OP asked.
you say people come here for useful information and I'm not seeing it. I ask questions put in extremely detailed information and no body knows, or ask questions that were answered in the original post. As far as asking why is everyone so mean, well after reading on this board for a while I guess you guys are rubbing off on me. That's my bad.
