Thread: E85 no tune

Hey guys, just bought some 42's and I've read that multiple people go e85 this route and don't tune. I'm not crazy modded, just a 3.4 with headers. It make me a bit weary as to I depend on this car a lot so I wanna make sure I'm safe. How many people here actually do it without a tune?

I did. Everything was cool until my local gas station went above 88%. Many people have done this without a problem. I would HIGHLY recommend buying an e85 tester. That way you know what you're actually putting in your tank.

You should be fine as long as it's between 70% and 85%. That's where it's supposed to be. When mine hit 88%+ my LTFT's were maxing out. I didn't know why til after the fact.

Do you have a way to monitor fuel trims?

when it's not that difficult to actually get tuned for it i don't see the point in doing something with this much potential downside.

i didn't say it doesn't work.

but it's not that hard to get a tuner strapped to the car to make sure it's CORRECT.

I would say the benefits far outweigh any potential downside. Especially since it's so easy to revert back. Try it. If it doesn't work for some reason, stab your original injectors back in. Shrug.

scott, when tuners are damn near free and/or in every other persons hands nowadays you kind of don't have an excuse to not at least check it out for peace of mind. you can't argue that.

Two things:

1) You better bring Olds to ICC.

2) Who uses a calculator? especially when it's just fuel tables that are "apparently" the same?

Lol. The olds doesn't run. Or drive. And looks like crap. I have a feeling it will stay like that for a long long time.

Alright thanks for the input. My plan right now is to switch and then get a tune eventually. I made a feeler thread earlier for people in the Chicago land are who can tune for e85 but no one has responded. I pm'd overkill and he said he wasn't "comfortable not being in the vehicle to tune it". I'm going to keep searching around for people who can tune for it. Anyone have ideas of other people? And my means of "monitoring" is using torque app.

come up to the racine/kenosha area and a local will tune your car. he's not on here, but if you find the WICGP group on facebook i can point you in his direction.
