I have a 2002 GT, and I've had a Compustar remote start installed for the past 7-8 years. I've started the car with it thousands of times, and never had a problem until this morning. Before I go any further, I can verify to you guys that it's not a problem with the remote start system itself. Now, normally when I use my remote start, the car starts (obviously) the headlights/taillights come on, and the heater starts blowing (the DIC lights up as well). However, this morning when I looked out window to ensure it started, it did start, but then after about 3 seconds, the headlights went off. I thought this was strange, but didn't realize the scope of the problem until I got in the car.

In addition to the headlights being turned off, the heater didn't come on (wasn't blowing at all), and the DIC was turned off. This all fixed itself when I put the key in the ignition, and turned it to run. I tested it without autostart, and I can verify that everything operates as it should as soon as the ignition is turned to RUN. So, from what I've read, this could possibly be an ignition switch problem? Anybody with any alternate theories?

But you're basically saying when using the ignition switch, everything works properly. It's only with the remote start supplying power that it isn't working. Those circuits are all powered together by the ignition switch, but not when the key isn't in it. That's the job of the remote start. I think there is a connection issue with the remote start's wires.

If you didn't have remote start, I would say you have a bad ignition switch.

I have a bad ignition switch, but with my remote start, everything works, and when I go key on and disable the remote start, I have then lost my auto lights and HVAC. The remote start bypasses the ignition switch, so I'd say check the wiring for the remote start where it ties into the cars ignition. Might be a bad connection there.
