I have been test driving a 2005 Grand Prix GT. It has almost every option but remote start. The car has the auto/digital HVAC system. When in the auto mode and I start the car the a/c light is on. Is this normal? I tried starting the car with the temp setting maxed out at 90 and got the same result.

It may also come on in manual mode when I start the car, but will need to check in the next day or two.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

So does the a/c run by default in all modes unless shut off?

from what others who know something about the hvac system say, its normal, the ac being on drys the hot air. aka removes the humidity.
