Snug is all it takes. You can always start it and check for leaks

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
Gotcha, understood. Thank you!
It's weird, my car has been leaking little spots for about a couple of weeks, I always check to make sure the level is on full on the dipstick, which it has been. I went out this morning and there's a pretty good sized puddle under the car, closer to the passenger side tire. Hmmmm. I drove it about 350-400 miles over the weekend, came home Sat. night and it's been sitting since then until now. I'm waiting for my son to get home from work so that he can help me remove the wheel and make sure it's coming from the sensor. Pretty sure it is, but being a female I want to be 100% sure. LOL A few hours ago I took it to the car wash and doused it down with engine degreaser then rinsed it off and now all I see dripping is water, probably coming from all the water I put on it. I don't see any oil dripping yet, but maybe by the time my son gets home it'll have at least a drip or 2 to see exactly where it's coming from.

male or female, you can check it with the wheel on.
start the car turn the wheels all the way to the left, then from behind the pass side front wheel look to the engine, find the oil filter, to its left is a sensor with a green plug. if its leaking oil will be dripping, or pouring out the plug.
a flash light can help see under there in the day time. i use one all the time when need be.

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
I have turned the wheel to the left, but was too dark to see and damned if I know what my boys did with my flashlight! :th_shakinghead1: lol I love it that they help me work on my cars, but never seem to be able to put my tools and such back where they got them from. I'm sure he has that flashlight in his truck, but I'll look around again and if I find it before he gets home I'm going to see if I can see it leaking.

Dads tools in my case were slung around the garage all unorganized and lost. You could be sure he wouldn't miss whatever you took. He didn't even work on cars really and had a crap load of misc sockets and such.

LOL Both great posts!! Lately with my tools, I've threatened the boys that if they want to use them I was going to start charging them like the loan-a-tool thing at Autozone...LOL Luckily I don't have to do much work on the GTP, but when I do I like to have my tools where I know they're supposed to be, key word being SUPPOSED.

if my mom wanted her tool, and it wa missing, dont come home for dinner lol ass kicking was coming lol she broke many wood spoons on me, spatula's hurt more, the ones with holes in them are worse. the metal old school ones that is.

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
Yea, I just texted my son and told him he'd better have my flashlight with him when he comes home or don't bother coming home. lol I have a nice metal spatula with holes in it, but the boys are 28, 27 and 27 (yes, twins) and they run faster than I do now so never get to use it on them anymore. I do sometimes get lucky and catch them when they're not paying attention...

My dad learned that the hard way last year, especially when the kids story is different, you're SOL. Long story short, my parents split. Bummer but lifes goes on. Nowadays you can just unplug the wifi or turn off a phone and its almost the same thing lol.

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
I have been outside checking out this leak. Found a flashlight, btw lol. The sensor is dry, as are the wires and connector, so that's not the cause of my leak. I know my oil pan has been leaking a bit, but didn't think it was getting THAT bad. I did manage to take a few pics after I took off that splash guard thingy that's next to the oil filter. My first reaction...YUCK! Motor mount looks soaked in oil and there was a bunch of oil sitting in that bracket that mounts on top of the motor mount. I've watched a couple of videos on replacing the oil pan, which I need to do but don't want to attempt it myself (and can't afford to pay big bucks that some places charge to do it) and I've seen what a new mount looks like and mine is actually mushy on the end that faces the rear of the car. Would that be because of the oil dripping from the oil pan?
I don't want to hijack this guy's thread, should I start another thread and post the pics in that thread?

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
let it rip here f it lol
you could need valve cover gasket, very commen for those to fail, they leak down the side to the engine mount then th eoil kills the rubber.
you can take a paper towel folded up and wipe under the lip of the valve cover to see if it comes back wet with oil, if so theres your leak.
it could also be the balancer seal leaking.

Re: Pics..Help me find cause of oil leak.leaking on side of passenger tire behind eng
Okay, went out and checked for valve cover leak, those are good, no leaks. Balancer area looks clean and dry also. Trying to upload pics, file too large, will keep trying.....

Top pic is of motor mount and lower pic is of good sized puddle from sitting Sat. night to this afternoon. I'm thinking that puddle (a good 18" across) came from the mount as I have NEVER had a puddle, only a few drips.
