thinking about re-installing a/c system...

I’m debating on putting A/C back in my gtp but don’t recall everything that entails. Removing stuff is easier than (re)installing parts for me lol. How difficult would it be to re-install the a/c system? If memory serves me correctly, the ONLY parts I removed was the compressor, condenser(looks like a radiator correct?), and the cylinder-looking tube that’s underneath where the factory airbox goes into. The line that runs against the firewall and into the cabin are still there. Also considering how bulky/large the factory condenser is, is there a smaller suitable replacement condenser? I don’t know the part names and/or if I took out or where the “orifice tube” is lol. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Freeman.. put up a couple pictures of what you have left.

The condensor is always the same size. Yes..that's the part in front of the radiator.
The compressor would mount to the engine, likely you did a bypass pulley
The orifice tube is in a line that runs along the driverside fender.. it's location is actually way back almost by the booster
The accumulator/dryer is a canister that sits front driverside down by the pcm
Then there's the tubes/hoses to connect stuff.

i'll see if i can snap a few later on when on lunchbreak (currently at work). with the orifice tube i may still have that, if its after the cylinder container (google search says its called RECEIVER & DEHYDRATO. AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) Refrigerant #23 diagram) then i am certain i still have it and everything after the receiver & dehydrato thingy.

with the condenser, is it possible to use a smaller-compact condenser?

I am not an ac expert... not sure about that answer. My understanding is it needs to be sized appropriately to the system

you can run a smaller condenser but you will suffer ac performance and it will be harder to judge proper charge weight. Stick with the factory condenser to make things easier. the accumulator /dryer you will have to buy a replacement if it has been left out in the open air ( they are not expensive). If the evaporator was left open to the air too ( the part left in the dash) then I would flush it. PAG oil that was left over in there is hydroscopic and absorbs water so it should be flushed out.

resurrecting this post. whereas the evaporator? bill had mentioned in a PM that the orifice is located behind the ABS module? the pieces that i don't have is the dryer/receiver and everything after, that separates out to the condenser and the other to the compressor. now since the side that goes into the dryer/receiver has been opened to the eliminates/environment/exhaust gases, is there a particular AC flush kit that i can use and where would i use it? there's a nozzle located right in the middle of the firewall on the ac tubing. is that it?

Evap core is located in the passenger compartment of the car.

^ah ok, yea since the tubing where it connects to the dryer/receiver is open then i guess the air would circulate and thru the evap core. so that leads to how to flush it? lol yes yes, google is my friend :-p
