I'm going to try to repair the AC on Halfassery.

When I go to pump freon in, it sounds like its leaking up front around the silver can thing. Whatever that is called.

It seems the parts (from parts geek) are relatively cheap, and it's the only thing my son doesn't like about the car.

If it's completely out of refrigerant, the compressor won't kick on and off correct?

If it's low enough, not even necessarily out it won't kick on. You are correct.

That's just it. I can hear it, but not necessarily see it. I may have to remove a whole bunch of stuff to get to it........

BTW, What is the silver can up close to the radiator called?

Ide be really surprised if it was leaking from there unless it was hit by something. They often leak from the condenser. Thats the giant thing that looks like a radiator, behind the radiator.

There is leak detect you can use they sell at any auto parts store to put in then you can use a light to find it. Also when you fix it and go to refill make sure you buy the refrigerant that has the lube and everything all in one.

You dont have to remove the radiator. Just remove the bolts and pull it foward and the condensor will slip right out.Took me literally 15 minutes to replace mine and recharge.

I hope mines put together right. The radiator seems to be behind the condenser. Is that correct?
