He doesn't work on his own car man if you've seen some of his old threads.. You'll know he's quick to pay someone instead of doing the work himself then complains about how this car is nickel and dimeing him.

i know his deal. its old. like i said, grow a set already.

i was doing back brake jobs when i was 16. i didnt even have a car lol and those were all drum brakes. most are scared to death of them. not me. fronts were always easy to do.

when a exhaust part simply unbolts,,,,,you get your ass under there and change it. its to damn easy to go pay a shop to do it.

those gaskets you need are like 8 bucks each at any parts store. you may or may not need ne cat back bolts if they break. spray em down for a few days to help break em free. new bolts cost like a buck.

if the upper bolts break, you drill it out and put a nut and bolt in. done deal. theres room to get the drill in there after the pipe is down.

Yup this whole catalytic converter thing can be a easy fix if he just nuts up and does the install his damn self instead of dropping I'm sure $500+ on what he's about to do.

drive to NJ find a shop there, its worth the tolls.

So I went to the guy I originally go to and had my car up on a lift and it turns out the oxygen sensors were bad as I expected. If the converter is bad, I am going to have to order a GM original catalytic converter from the dealership which will cost nearly double of what I paid for the all in one from walker after the core charge.

I sent back the walker catalytic converter today and hopefully should have my money back by Monday.

What do you guys think guys is the catalytic converter defiantly the culprit? I have new sensors installed and the code reappeared. What else can cause a P0420 code?

This really does suck.

NY and California suck big time. Both listed as the most unfree states in the union. High taxes and tons of regulations as well.

Once I get the money, I want to head over to Texas where there is much more freedom that NY and much better weather too.

That is effn' BULL ****. I have a 3" downpipe going on my Saab in a few weeks while they do my clutch, it has what is advertised as a "Race Cat" it is definitely not Carb legal and my shop doesn't give a ****. Did this shop order this stuff for you?

The law does watch for this kind of activity. At my old shop, we had annual inspections, random inspections, and the tech doing the work was held accountable. I turned a lot of work away; my tech's job wasn't worth some kids desire to play race car.
