I dont think the res will help with drone, i thought they mostly only cut out the rasp. If you don't want drone then I would get different mufflers. You can use a long glasspack for a res which is what others do when the stock one kicks the bucket.

Everyone has different brand preferences, and different tolerances for how much work they're willing to put into the fab.

Measure twice and order some stuff.

Search for quiet 3" exhaust on here. Someone put in quite a good effort a while back.

theres a few guys running full 3 inch with headers or turbos. they sound f ing great, and this is from a guy who hates how the 3800 sound other then a stock cat back. the 3 inch sounds rather tame. no one has said it droned or was to raspy that i can recall.

a local bought thrush glass pack would do the trick too, 30 inches long at least, and 3 inch is like 30 bucks at autozone.

I think you want a round universal muffler in place of the rez? Check summit racing.

I run this on my car.

Magnaflow 30" long 6" diameter with 2 turbo mufflers... no cat.
Makes for a free flowing setup that's as quiet as stock.

That's the resonator to run ^^^ I forget the number, quoted it a million times, you'd think I'd remember it.

That plus two Dynomax VT mufflers 17956 out back, the vehicle will be drone free and have a nice tone at WOT. I'm a big fan of the VT mufflers now that I've had personal experience with them plus heard several customer vehicles. They work ok on their own but even better with a good resonator.

Good to hear the VTs actually work well. Was always curious about them because after they fixed the issue they had just after launch, no one seemed to speak of them again.
