So I am starting to shop for a CAI/FWI for my Monte, but it's the wifes car and she doesnt want it to be loud, so I am looking for the best compromise between flow and noise.... Obviously a HAI is out, as those are likely the loudest, and wouldnt net the best results anyway. Which leaves me with something like the SLP, or WizAired, or possibly the TDC FWI, but which of these is going to be the quietest?

If she's like my wife the radio will be on with the volume set to about "8" so she'll never hear it anyway.

I agree! I'd put on whatever you choose, don't tell her and let her drive it. She'll probably won't notice it anyway and if she does, tell her the mufflers age makes the car slightly louder over time, just wear and tear....

...it's an 05 with 45K on it, in pristine condition... she isnt a big car person, but she's not dumb either.... LOL ...she knows her car is quiet, and she likes it that way. She's already said she doesnt have a problem with me getting an intake, but i have to make her happy also.

Our intake is not loud. Enless your wife likes to floor it a lot. There is a difference between this intake and the stock air box at PT. But not much more if any than a box type.

If your looking for a cold air intake our's delivers just that. Unlike these box type intakes.

I am still seriously considering the TDC intake... but i think it dropped a tidbit in my mind with your sales pitch there, man. I can understand your wanting to sell what you can, but to put down the other intake setups that do perform very well also?

It wont likely affect my purchase, but just be careful, man, some others may be totally turned off if you are too aggressive.

Not a sales pitch at all.

You said you wanted a cold air intake (Which is a FWI). So with that said you are putting this on for some kind of performance gain. But at the same time you don't want your car whistling down the road all of the time. I was simply saying that if you want to spend money on a cold air intake that you should get a COLD AIR INTAKE and not a box type (Pretty close to a hot air intake).

We have done a LOT of testing on IAT temps with different setups and intakes as well as the open cone intake. And the results were clear. I've also done a lot of real world testing on both the design and performance of our intake compared to others. I was also trying to give you the best example I could in words of how our intake compared to others as far as the increase in noise that it makes.Which is kind of hard to do without actually hearing it in person.

Sorry if I offended you in any way. Was just trying to help.

I appreciate your further explanation. I can see where you were trying to get with your original post, it just came off a little salesmanish (is that a word, LOL) but your further explanation helps

    thanks

He's not aggressive dude, he is being 110% honest. Who in their god damned right mind would spend nearly $400 on a K&N when I, or most anyone for that matter can make something out of a paper clip, toothpick, and bubble gum like Mac Guiver that performs better. His is THE BEST FWI/CAI for ANY 3800 powered car on the market today, bar none. Or you can make your own that performs somewhat close for half the price, but you have to build it out of roof flashing and PVC Pipe...oh and it isn't as pretty as Parker's

... but you are missing the entire point of my thread. I kow the FWI would be best, but am willing to go the route of a boxed CAI if the sound is quieter/less noticeable. That's what I was inqiring about.

Ok, closer it is to the throttle body, the louder it is...so no...get it farther away.

If it is a '04+ they don't have a U-Bend, so if your wanting better MPG's and Performance...Get the TDC FWI, ZZP Bolt-In 3" Catted Downpipe, and you'd be good to go...if you got it tuned it would get even better gas mileage though...

Oh, guess I missed that part...anything Series III didn't have a U-Bend IMO...but if it is a Series II MCSS then it prolly has one.
