This is an answer rather than a question. I know of at least two 3800 GPs that have had this horrible noise when turning. This one is a 99 L36. If it sounds like your car ... your starter is bad and the gear is bouncing off the flexplate when you turn. In this video I had one side jacked up so it would do it at idle. After viewing this, I was able to pinpoint the noise. When I removed the plastic inspection cover to access the flexplate, I found that the starter gear was no longer spring loaded and could try to engage the flexplate teeth due to inertia. This noise is LOUD in traffic. Failure to fix can result in funny looks and flexplate damage so don't drive around like this! By the way, this starter worked just fine except for this problem-
