i just purchased a 30,000 mile l67 off of craigslist i want to change the gaskets and cam it . just not sure which cam i want. it has to be street able not have to do headwork and if possible not have to change spring or retainers which would lean me towards the vs but i do want to have a nice sounding idle which pushes me towards the xp or slx . also would like to still keep decent gas mileage.....so basically i have no idea what i want someone nudge me in the right direction. it is going in a 99 gt with the gt trans some speed daddy headers and a canned tune (of which i also don't know who to use advice would be appreciated)..........also last but not least it will have 22 inch rims if it matters (let the hate commence)

Any cam is going to require replacement of the stock springs. Even the VS after maybe 6 months will wear out the stock valve springs.
I would go XP or S1x both are about the same and are pretty streetable, get some 105# springs and new retainers. A 30k mile timing chain should be okay for now but I would at least replace the tensioner.
As far as canned tune I would talk to Will @ overkill performance I have heard nothing but good things about his tunes.
22 inch rims = your trans is going to hate you.

Kind of neglecting the purpose of camming it if your going to run heavy rims.

Go for kit 2, it comes with the timing chain dampener, I know I said tensioner but that is what meant, and buy the Fel Pro Valve cover gaskets. ZZPs valve cover gaskets have been known to leak.

With those wheels add a trans cooler to your list along with whatever cam you get.

Sent from my Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
    2019 F150 XL - Make it run 12's N/A
    2012 F150 STX
    - Gonna be a race truck
    02 GT "Slowkar" 180k - Top Swap, Gen V, TOG Headers, 1.9s, e85, 3.25. It's literally the slowest e85 car ever....

If you want to be cheap you could get this then run it either in-line or stand alone, but your gonna need some extra hose probably also when you just cut your current lines and slip the hose over flare them so it doesn't slide off because otherwise it will spray trans fluid all over and probably burn the car to the ground.
