Hello fellow grand prix owners had a problem with car today was driving perfectly fine, i ran the fuel tank low and put in about 15 litres drove about 80 km then on way how had to go up a steep hill very slow cause an old man driving in fron about a block later the car started to die and sputter i pulled over by a gas station and thought i had water in gas so put in some moregas and gas line antifreeze no go let it sit and then it started but was chugging like water in gas let it idle then about 2 min it died tried starting again no go waited about 6 7 min tried again started and chugged played with gas pedal it idleed then again after couple of min chugged and died it keeps repeatting this now , i am thinking really bad gas or did i pick up dirt and its clogging fuel filter or fuel pump or do you think plugged injectors or could it be something else please help...!!!

Does it run just fine if you always keep your foot in it?

Bad gas or water in the gas would likely not even allow it to keep running well with the gas pedal pushed down some.

Perhaps try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if the idle returns to normal.

Could be your fuel pump. Do you have a pressure gauge or way to check pressure.

It probably was water. After filling up the water would have been dispersed in the gas. After letting it sit, the water would have pooled at the bottom of the tank but you put in ethanol which absorbed the water. Adding ethanol isn't an instant fix so letting it sit for a few hours will give it time to mix and work. Call the gas station and complain. If they own up to the issue they will reimburse you.

What year is your car, and what exactly have you done already?

FYI, the fuel filter is in a terrible spot and rusts bad. I soaked mine in PB blaster, every day, for a few days before taking it off. Then I coated in the fittings in grease to repel water after putting it together.

I can't look past the fact this started right after you got gas. What I would do is just get rid of that gas.

    1) Get a simple siphon kit and pump it all out.
    or
    2) Unhook the fuel filter and slip a rubber line over the "output" of it. Jump a wire to the pump relay and let the pump do the work for you.

When you think you have the tank as empty as possible, dump in a bottle of IsoHEAT and a couple of gallons of gas. Wait a day and top the tank off with good gas.
