I have a 2004 GT2 and am having a strange problem. When I set the cruise on lets say 70 (pick a speed really) it constantly tries to adjust itself so I end up with a steady slowing down and speeding up thing going on. To see if this was isolated to the cruise, I turned the cruise control off and held the speed steady at 70 and noticed that the speedometer would randomly jump down 2-3 mph and then jump back up to 70. Needless to say, this is frustrating and annoying. Looking for what could be causing the problem...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if the throttle body is really gummed up and dirty and causing some minor issues.

Not sure if it will help but it's worth a try, so clean the throttle body and MAF sensor with there correct cleaners and see if anything changes.

Thanks. Yeah, the throttle body was pretty nasty so I pulled it off and cleaned it. Haven't pulled and cleaned the MAF yet...that is on for this afternoon.

MAF all cleaned but didn't help the cruise. In fact, it straight up died last night.

Well...found the problem and it's not good news unfortunately. The vibration ended up being the torque converter. Have it scheduled to be replaced next week. The question is...should I go ahead and have my mechanic do a rebuild on the transmission while he has it out of the car? Car has 160,000 miles. I'm leaning toward yes...but haven't decided 100%.
