Hey guys, I am in need of some good advice!!! OK I got my new FEL PRO 9089PT3 gasket kit I also ordered some tty bolts online. I cleaned every thing up very nice tapped all the bolt holes in the block I put on my gasket then put on the head I started tightening up the bolts they screwed in kinda tight but the back side did ok I think. I did 37LBS plus 120deg. When I done my front head I noticed two of the bolts didn't feel right. They wasn't touching the head after torque!!! I think they had too much of that red sealer on them. I had some extra fel pro bolts that where tty aswell they screwed in nicely. what should I do replace all the bolts or is my gaskets done now since I torqued on them. I am worried I didn't get an accurate torque with the other bolts. They screwed in tight but they did put torque on the head. I did every thing like the manual states in sequence 37lbs then go over them 120deg same sequence. What do you guys think????

What's the manufacturer of the bolts you ordered online? You mention Fel-Pro for the gaskets and the extra bolts...who made the others?

Wish I would Have gotten all Fel Pro. Do you think it would be ok to get the bolts and replace them, or continue putting the LIM on and SC on and giving it a try? This has me worried!! I hate to put it together and have a leak, Gasket Kit is $200 I really don't want to buy another if I don't have to...

If they torqued down then they're probably fine. I don't use the TTY bolts anymore...head studs on everything!!

Studs sound like the way to go. Do they thread in or do they have to be pressed in? I don't know much about the head studs.

    They thread in...and then they don't get torqued like the bolts...they get 40 ft/lbs, 60 ft/lbs, 90 ft/lbs, 90 ft/lbs. I love them.

    Hopefully all works out well.

One question though is, did you use any oil on the tap, and did you make sure to go 1 to 1/2? (1 turn in, half turn back out, repeat) I'm wondering if maybe some of the material got forced into the lower threads. Did you clean the holes out after tapping them?

Yep exactly how I done it.. I used compressed air to clean the holes after tapping, Speaking of cleaning the holes out kinda off topic but it really freaked me out when I looked down in the water jackets each water jacket had a gravel size calcium rock in it!! not kidding big as a gravel in each jacket in the block!!! I used a little grabbing device to pull out the big ones some I had to break up with a long flat screwdriver and forced compressed air in there for a good hour blowing small pieces out. No wonder it has overheated on the guy who had it before me. I would say those big pieces stopped the coolant ports in the gaskets up I don't see how the coolant could flow.
