A mechanical gauge isnt bad. Just buy the copper tubing kit and make a vibration loop before it enters the cabin. I've ran one that way for 3 years now and never had a leak or issue. Just make sure you lay out the tube nice with gentle bends.
sadly, ive had 2 leak in the car, from the gauge its self. and seen countless others have them fail to. most tracks wont let you race with one either due to the fail rate.
If you use the cheapo plastic. they fail regularly yes. And usually the supplied ferrels are crap too. You can get better sealing compression fittings, and never have a problem. Not that the new electric gauges arent great.
the tubing was ok, the gauge leaked, not the fitting on the back. they blow out.
the stock one on the peterbuilt truck i used to drive also blew out. granted it had 300,000 miles on it lol damn thing leaked on my shoe lol
Now that I wouldn't tolerate!! Ruining my shoes will get me pissed.
Nah, its in the cubby. Nice and safe. Away from my shoes.
ffdp pointed me toward GlowShift gauges, they had a really nice selection, good prices, and shipped quick. I'm waiting to install mine until the weather improves but they look really nice and solid.
