So my car (1999 Grand Prix GTP) bogs a little when I just start accelerating. I cleaned the MAF sensor, and it did not make a difference. I ordered a new one and put it in and it is actually worse now. It is the same bog as before, but now when I am on highway or cruising >30mph at 1500 RPMs - the RPMs jump up and down and the car rocks.

This actually happened to my old 2001 Grand Prix GTP when I first bought it. I kept bringing it back to the dealership and they couldn't figure out what the problem was. Then one day they fixed it, but I am not sure what they did.

Should I just throw my old MAF sensor in, or is their a way to fix this? Kind of odd that a new MAF runs worse than the old one.

    Thanks. Happy New Years!

What kind of maf did you get?

Aftermarket ones can have problems. Do you have a scanner?

I just had a lot of maf problems.

It is a "Standard" MAF. The sputtering did not occur with the previous MAF, so I am wondering if the computer needs a reset or something. I have an Aeroforce scanner - there are no codes coming up. I also used a Snap-On scanner and there was nothing irregular MAF related sequences (says my mechanic).
