Are you talking about the retainer ring that you have to take off to get the whole unit out?

If so, it goes in pretty much the reverse of how you took it out. If you are having problems, you could possibly have something under the FP unit that it keeping it from seating all the way and causing it to stick up where there is not enough room for the ring.

It's hard to tell without looking at it. Let us know!!

A bunch of cursing and raising your hands. I caught hell trying to get the ring in my stock one. A snap ring tool helps a bunch too.

ive been there done that, pretty much what they are saying.u just gotta play with it.if u dont have a snap ring tool.A pair of needle nose pliers helps also.It comes out alot easier than it goes back in.

Ok so you should be able to put it in the reverse as you took it out. Possible the pump isint seated all the way? like someone else mentioned.
